We are currently seeking a skilled Industrial Pipe Welder to join our team in San Diego, CA. This is a temporary position for 15 months with strong potential to become permanent within a few months.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $30-35 per hour, based on various factors including education, work experience, location, and specific job duties.

  • $30-35/hour (estimated)

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute welding operations to assemble pipes and fittings using gas tungsten arc welding (TIG) and gas metal arc welding (MIG).
  • Perform setup and preparation for welding operations, working from blueprints, sketches, and oral instructions.
  • Weld high-pressure or stress-prone materials, ensuring minimal leaks and cracks.
  • Operate in various positions, including flat, vertical, or overhead, and handle difficult-to-reach areas.
  • Recognize the need for pre-heating and minimize warpage by proper weld placement and stress relief techniques.
  • Form and shape details as required, improvising welding aids like paper templates and holding blocks.
  • Clean and dress welds, including cutting and repairing unacceptable joints.
  • Inspect own work for conformance to specifications.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Previous pipe welding experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment or possess a welding certification from an accredited college or institution.
  • TIG welding, pipe welding, and stainless steel experience.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, datum lines, and tolerances to produce defect-free work.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English language.
  • Proficiency in shop math.
  • Comfortable using a computer.
  • Will to improve safety, quality, velocity, and minimize costs.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 35lbs and wear a welder face shield.

We are looking for candidates who are flexible to work the 2nd shift (2pm - 10:30pm) but can also adapt to 1st shift if needed. There is plenty of overtime available.
