Clinical Nurse II

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse II to join our team at Alameda Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Accompany, assist, and represent the needs of patients to other healthcare providers.
- Provide accurate and respectful care with respect to medication administration, skin and wound care, ADLs, and other essential patient care activities.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify nursing care plans; prepare required records and reports.
- Gather and assess information about patients to meet nursing needs; assist and consult with physicians in the performance of procedures and diagnostic tests; contract physicians and/or other departments to obtain or provide patient information.
- May provide oversight to staff who monitor telemetry systems; alert primary nurse of changes in underlying rhythms and of any life-threatening arrhythmias that may develop; interpret and post telemetry strips at the hours specified; admit and discharge patients with telemetry units as appropriate.
- Organize, supervise, make adjustments, and accept responsibility for the quality of care provided to patients by co-workers for a given work period; assume responsibility as a team leader or charge nurse when assigned.
- Participate in promoting a healthful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families; set up and control the environment essential for infection control.
- Participate in the implementation of patient care standards, infection control standards, and quality assurance criteria; assist with conducting studies; participate in unit and other meetings.
- Provide and evaluate patient care established standards and criteria in conformity with the nursing care plan. Monitor patients for significant and critical changes and initiate procedures as required; document care given according to set standards and at required intervals. Interpret and explain procedures, regimens, and services to patients and families; teach patients and family members healthcare and disease prevention techniques. Prepare patients and/or area for procedures and operations; assist physicians; use instruments and equipment related to the area of assignment.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum experience: Six months experience as a Clinical Nurse I with AHS or the equivalent of one year full-time recent experience at a comparable level in a minimum 100-bed hospital or in the area of specialty; (if experience is not recent, completion of an approved refresher course may be acceptable).
- Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Preferred licenses/certifications: TNCC - Trauma Nurse Core Course (for Emergency department only), CCRN - Critical Care Registered Nurse, ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - issued by AHA - American Heart Association, may be required per facility or unit/department specialty according to patient care policies, BLS - Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association, CEN - Certified Emergency Nurse is desirable (for Emergency Department positions), Certification as a Public Health Nurse in the State of California (required for certain positions), Completion of Perinatal Safety Modules within 3 months of hire, Evidence of completion and continuing annual competency must be in the employee file and/or AHS's learning management system (LMS) (for certain positions), Coronary Care Unit certification (required for certain positions at Fairmont Hospital's Monitoring Unit), TEAM Training (required for all positions at John George Psychiatric Pavilion; and required for certain positions in the Emergency Department), NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification - AHA American Heart Association (required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies), PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification - AHA American Heart Association (Required for Emergency Department or if overseeing or providing pediatric care on a regular basis).
