Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Supervisory Fire Protection Engineer to join our team at the Department of State. As a key member of our fire protection team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing fire protection solutions that meet the Department's overseas fire protection requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and propose changes in design, engineering, and program implementation methodologies to enhance fire protection compatibility of new materials.
  • Represent the Department on matters relating to fire protection at meetings, conferences, and as a member of Federal committees and working groups.
  • Continually evaluate new approaches to improving work processes and services provided by the program.
  • Lead management efforts in developing, implementing, and assessing program policies and goals and immediate and long-range plans and budget requirements.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Obtain/maintain eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Applicants must have a bachelor's or higher degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), or include differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics.
  • Applicants must have 1 full year of specialized experience that is related to the work of the position, is equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service, and demonstrates the following: experience developing and implementing criteria, standards and procedures that provide guidelines for incorporating fire system solutions to fit the Department's overseas fire protection requirements; and experience researching and assisting in the development of specialized fire protection equipment, technology and systems that involve a variety of approaches for the elimination and control of hazardous conditions.
