Position Overview: The Patient Care Associate in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures.
Importance of the Role: This unit caters to a diverse group of patients, including those recovering from general, thoracic, trauma, vascular, orthopedic, gynecologic, and obstetric surgeries. Our mission is to ensure a patient-centered approach that fosters a safe and successful hospital experience for both patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with daily living activities and personal care needs.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately.
- Perform blood draws and obtain EKGs as required.
- Respond promptly to patient requests while maintaining confidentiality and safety.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
Qualifications:
- Required: Recent experience or training in clinical patient care.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, or completion of at least one semester of patient care rotations in a Nursing, Pre-Med, or PA undergraduate program.
