Job Summary
This role is pivotal in aiding organizations to deploy technological solutions efficiently by identifying project or program requirements and articulating them effectively to all stakeholders. Business analysts are assigned to specific projects, business lines, or technology platforms and are expected to engage in every phase of the development lifecycle, from analysis and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance, while adhering to established System Development Methodology (SDM) processes. The senior business analyst collaborates closely with various stakeholders, including project teams, business unit representatives, and technical staff, often facilitating communication among all parties involved. This position entails working on the most intricate business initiatives and providing strategic guidance to clients regarding solution design and implementation. Additionally, the senior business analyst will mentor junior team members.

Pay Range: $71,000 - $132,600.00

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with business units to identify opportunities for enhancing process execution and achieving strategic goals through technology. Assesses overall business needs and assists in the design and implementation of solutions to meet these objectives. Develops a strategic roadmap for achieving both short- and long-term goals.
  • Serves as a key member of the project team, documenting decisions made throughout the project lifecycle. Gathers specific requirements through interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, and business process descriptions. Translates these requirements into technical specifications for development teams.
  • Conducts thorough data analysis to define technological solutions that align with business needs, ensuring data quality and implementing various data quality controls. Troubleshoots data reconciliation issues and collaborates with IT and business teams to resolve them.
  • Acts as the liaison between the customer community (both internal and external) and the software development team, ensuring a smooth flow of requirements. Proactively identifies potential technical challenges and implements solutions by validating all system changes related to assigned tasks. Advocates for the business unit supported by the technology team.
  • Documents technical and project-related information and develops training materials. Writes and executes test scripts to ensure system functionality.
  • Collaborates with project team members on tasks with clear deliverables and timelines, maintaining accountability for all items.
  • Monitors project progress and addresses challenges, influencing others to achieve project outcomes. Escalates issues as necessary.
  • Ensures adherence to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Completes all mandatory compliance training and stays informed about Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree plus 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, or 10 years of comparable experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using SQL is essential.
  • Prior experience in solutions related to AML, Fraud Detection, Sanctions Screening, or Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR) is preferred.
  • Experience with banking products and services such as Wires, ACH, Monetary Instruments, Checks, and Cash is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with compliance technology vendor solutions like Actimize, Mantas, and Fircosoft is preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst on IT projects, particularly moderate to complex initiatives.
  • Experience in collecting and documenting user stories, use cases, business requirements, and acceptance criteria across various process areas.
  • Ability to refine user stories and detailed requirements in collaboration with IT developers.
  • Experience in mapping as-is and to-be processes for modernized applications.
  • Ability to identify and document regulatory and risk-related requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and technical knowledge of software systems and application components.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, suitable for all organizational levels.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with agile ceremonies such as standups, story estimation, and sprint retrospectives is beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively with both on-shore and off-shore resources.
  • Proven success in high-pressure, cross-functional environments.
  • Adaptability to changes in processes and priorities.
  • Good understanding of relational databases, data marts, and data warehouses.
  • Experience writing SQL queries using tools like Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio or similar.
  • Proficiency in using Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel for documentation and data modeling.
  • Experience in designing reports, dashboards, and wireframes.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Tableau, Cognos, or Power BI is a plus.
