Position Overview:
The Regional Optometry Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing public safety through the provision of medical care that prioritizes health, healing, and adaptation to various health conditions related to optometric diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the mission of Health Services by delivering comprehensive and quality health services aimed at promoting wellness.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including Physicians, ARNPs, and Physician Assistants, to ensure effective medical care delivery.
  • Oversee and coordinate medical care for offenders across multiple facilities, ensuring adherence to established health care protocols.
  • Engage in the development and implementation of health care systems that focus on population-based demand management.
  • Participate actively in the Coordinated Quality Improvement Program (CQIP) to enhance service delivery.

Patient Care Responsibilities:
  • Utilize both objective and subjective methods to assess, diagnose, and treat ocular conditions, employing various diagnostic tools.
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to identify pathological conditions and manage prosthetic eye care.
  • Prescribe and evaluate treatment options for eye conditions, ensuring compliance with relevant state laws and regulations.

Consultation and Training:
  • Work collaboratively with the health care team to create comprehensive care plans for patients with ophthalmological issues.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of Health Services Policies and Procedures related to eye care.
  • Assist in the training and education of health care staff on relevant topics to enhance professional knowledge.

Documentation and Compliance:
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient care records, ensuring compliance with documentation standards.
  • Respond to inquiries from various stakeholders regarding health care services and procedures.
  • Engage in legal processes as required, including depositions and courtroom testimony.

Qualifications:
  • Unrestricted licensure as a Medical Physician in the State of Washington.
  • Minimum of one year of post-residency experience.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
