We are seeking a Lead Systems Engineer for Vehicle Platforms to leverage our partnerships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to optimize vehicle design and production for our commercial initiatives.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with our automotive partners.
- Define system-level requirements for vehicle platforms aligned with Aurora's operational goals and functional specifications, while managing the flow of information with OEM partners.
- Evaluate vehicle platform architectures and systems to identify potential gaps in functionality, safety, or performance.
- Create, document, and implement comprehensive system-level testing protocols to ensure compliance with established requirements.
- Collaborate on the development of platform-specific integration and fault management requirements for internal teams.
- Provide evidence to substantiate Aurora's Safety Case claims regarding vehicle platform safety and performance.
- Assist in the commissioning of new platforms and systems, conduct fault injection tests, analyze performance data, and facilitate troubleshooting across the fleet.
- Contribute to process enhancement initiatives in collaboration with OEM partners.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong foundation in physics and engineering principles across electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
- Proven experience in designing and assessing systems in accordance with automotive safety regulations.
- A minimum of four years in engineering or integrating complex automotive or robotic systems.
- Experience in managing requirements, traceability, and reviews using industry-standard tools.
- Robust data analysis skills with experience in designing and executing experiments across various system types.
- Familiarity with automotive system architectures and optimization at a systems level.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders globally.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in developing or implementing vehicle-level control software for major subsystems.
- Background in partnership or OEM/Supplier relationships.
- Knowledge of class 8 truck systems.
The compensation for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will be eligible for bonuses, equity options, and comprehensive benefits.
