The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Day Camp Activities Coordinator to oversee all aspects of program activities for our Summer Day Camp Program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and leading activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and creating a welcoming and safe environment full of positive experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all Day Camp activities with enthusiasm and adhere to training protocol established during training.
- Implement positive behavior management procedures and complete "Report to Parents" forms as needed.
- Facilitate check-in/check-out procedures and maintain accurate attendance lists.
- Enforce facility- and activity-specific regulations to ensure safety and supervise activity stations.
- Assist in emergencies and treatment of injured participants, volunteers, and/or staff.
- Perform regular head counts and keep accurate attendance lists.
- Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policy and Procedures and the Day Camp Code of Conduct.
- Act as a mandated reporter of child & elder abuse and report any suspicions or inappropriate behavior to a supervisor immediately.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Must have a Class C License and be able to drive.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English; bilingual English/ Spanish preferred.
- At least two seasons of supervisory experience in directing similar programs.
- Ability to think creatively and outside of the box.
The ideal candidate will be able to work well with children, parents, and staff in a capacity of leadership, counseling, and education. The ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages, use appropriate discipline consistently, and handle security and crisis situations calmly is essential.
