Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Safety Lieutenant to join our team at Piedmont. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our facilities, ensuring the safety and security of our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and develop junior officers to ensure they are properly trained and equipped to handle security-related tasks.
  • Coordinate and conduct new employee and current employee training on key job responsibilities and security operations.
  • Manage the active monitoring of at-risk patients and intervene in escalating behavior.
  • Supervise the screening for and interdiction of weapons as they enter a facility.
  • Make sound judgments when utilizing force, including deadly force, to provide a safe environment.
  • Supervise and ensure the proper conduct of use of force encounters for all staff.
  • Perform documentation in the medical record and conduct incident investigations.
  • Maintain training and readiness of self and junior officers.
  • Participate in the Quality Assurance process and take ownership of problems to ensure positive outcomes and high levels of patient/visitor satisfaction.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Four (4) years general security, military, or other public safety experience required, with two (2) years of experience in a related job where required to actively carry a firearm in the regular course of duty.
  • Valid driver's license and adherence to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500.
  • Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (IAHSS) required within one year of hire.
  • Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) certification preferred.
  • Ability to learn and operate computerized security systems, concealed weapons screening systems, CCTV monitoring equipment, advanced video analytics/threat detection platforms, and standard 2-way radios.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to operate Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or a baton.
  • Carry company-issued firearm.
  • Pass pre-employment psychological screening.
  • Maintain all training requirements to include certifications in Firearms, Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed.
