Job Summary:
Vector CSP, LLC is seeking a skilled Maintenance Trades Helper to provide technical support to Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic for the USCG Integrated Product Team (IPT). The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering, integration, and technical services required to outfit Coast Guard cutters with C5I systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install or replace machinery, equipment, and new or replacement parts and instruments, using hand or power tools.
- Examine and test machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning.
- Tend and observe equipment and machinery to verify efficient and safe operation.
- Adjust, connect, or disconnect wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts, using hand or power tools.
- Clean or lubricate vehicles, machinery, equipment, instruments, tools, work areas, and other objects, using hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment.
- Hold or supply tools, parts, equipment, and supplies for other workers.
- Diagnose electrical problems and install and rewire electrical components.
- Disassemble broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair and reassemble equipment when repairs are complete.
- Position vehicles, machinery, equipment, physical structures, and other objects for assembly or installation, using hand tools, power tools, and moving equipment.
- Transfer tools, parts, equipment, and supplies to and from workstations and other areas.
- Adjust, maintain, and repair tools, equipment, and machines, and assist more skilled workers with similar tasks.
- Order new parts to maintain inventory.
- Apply protective materials to equipment, components, and parts to prevent defects and corrosion.
- Design, weld, and fabricate parts, using blueprints or other mechanical plans.
- Assemble and maintain physical structures, using hand or power tools.
- Prepare workstations for use by mechanics and repairers.
- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Requirements:
- Secret Clearance required.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED. Completed a formal in-house training program that includes familiarization with installation skills (i.e., running cables, dressing cables, marking cables, operation of standard test equipment, etc.).
- Two (2) years of practical experience in electronics installation, maintenance, and checkout.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
- Knowledge of safety standards and practices, including OSHA regulations and protocols for working with hazardous materials or electrical equipment.
- Physical dexterity and stamina to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, maneuvering equipment, and working in confined spaces.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment, with a focus on precision in installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve system or equipment issues.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for guiding installations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Collaborative team player, following instructions from supervisors and working efficiently with colleagues to complete tasks.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
- Knowledge of handling, storing, and transporting tools, equipment, and materials in compliance with organizational and industry standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, providing updates and following instructions accurately.
