Job SummaryThe Cook II is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food items in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and cook a variety of food items, including sauces, sautés, boils, braises, and roasts, as well as fries, steams, grills, bakes, and short-order cooking.
- Assist in food preparation assignments, including daily prep, special functions, banquets, catering, holiday, and special events.
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure a smooth service period.
- Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours and determine the amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus.
- Ensure the excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved.
- Follow all safety procedures when handling kitchen equipment and comply with department sanitation standards and personal hygiene/uniform standards.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations for sanitation and infection control standards.
- Perform other duties as required and assigned by Chefs and/or supervisors.
- Minimum of three years' experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, retirement community, or healthcare setting.
- Ability to plan and organize work, interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards.
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
- Culinary education preferred.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
