Job Summary

The Cook II is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food items in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook a variety of food items, including sauces, sautés, boils, braises, and roasts, as well as fries, steams, grills, bakes, and short-order cooking.
  • Assist in food preparation assignments, including daily prep, special functions, banquets, catering, holiday, and special events.
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure a smooth service period.
  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours and determine the amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus.
  • Ensure the excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved.
  • Follow all safety procedures when handling kitchen equipment and comply with department sanitation standards and personal hygiene/uniform standards.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations for sanitation and infection control standards.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by Chefs and/or supervisors.
Requirements
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, retirement community, or healthcare setting.
  • Ability to plan and organize work, interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
  • Culinary education preferred.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
