Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recreation Therapist Assistant to join our team at Springbrook. As a Recreation Therapist Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting with leisure and recreational opportunities for residential school students. You will work closely with our Recreation Therapist to implement meaningful, fun, and educational activities and field trips. This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires flexibility, creativity, and a passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the implementation of recreational opportunities for students under the direction of the Recreation Therapist.
  • Provide evidence of activities and feedback to parents and/or Springbrook, such as photos, art samples, etc.
  • Provide programmatic and staffing support to students in various settings, including implementing service plans.
  • Earn and maintain specialty trainings at Springbrook to safely support student equal access to leisure opportunities.
  • Set up special activities in accordance with school themes, holidays, and events.
  • Serve as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) when necessary.
  • Perform all other duties assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; some college credits or an Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50lbs.
  • Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.
  • Ability to perform all physical interventions.
