The Lead Airworthiness Inspector will be responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft and components, while also contributing to the training and evaluation of individuals within the Quality Control Department.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect and Certify Aircraft and Components: Physically examine aircraft, aircraft components, and review related paperwork to ensure that workmanship meets acceptable standards of quality.
- Supervise and Train Inspectors: Plan, schedule, and supervise assigned Inspectors on aircraft in the Repair Station, ensuring they have necessary resources to complete assigned tasks.
- Monitor Performance and Provide Guidance: Monitor the performance of Airworthiness Inspectors, provide training and guidance, and provide input for individual performance reviews.
- Coordinate with Return to Service Staff: Maintain current status of aircraft/components in assigned area and communicate effectively with the return to service staff.
- Ensure Quality and Compliance: Ensure Quality Representatives within the repair station perform their duties as outlined in QCM, and ensure inspection requirements are coordinated between departments.
- Coordinate with RTS and Maintain Accurate Records: Coordinate throughout assigned jobs with RTS to ensure accurate aircraft records are produced in a timely manner, and ensure accurate, neat and legible records of the work performed on aircraft/components are maintained.
- Identify and Address Discrepancies: Identify FAR 135 Operators, FAR 135 Maintenance Programs, and ensure adequate trained Inspectors are available, and ensure audits of maintenance documentation for accuracy and completion are conducted on all aircraft/components prior to approval for return to service.
- Monitor and Maintain Calibrated Tools and Equipment: Monitor all department calibrated tools and test equipment for current calibration, and submit changes for any Technical data found discrepant.
- Ensure Compliance with Foreign Authority Requirements: Identify Foreign Authority operated aircraft/components and ensure their requirements are met.
- Advanced Knowledge of Inspection and Certification Processes: Possess a comprehensive knowledge of inspection and certification processes, and a general working knowledge of the various aircraft, engines, and components.
- Familiarity with FARs and Technical Reference Materials: Familiarity with pertinent FARs and technical reference materials, including FAR Part 145 and associated guidance materials, Part 43, Part 91, Part 121, and Part 135.
- Strong Communication and Computer Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and a minimum 20 WPM typing speed.
- Ability to Read, Write, Speak, and Understand English: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
