Job Title: Senior Quality Assurance Director

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quality Assurance Director to join our team at Accuity. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing oversight and leadership to the Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the QA Specialist team, including interviewing, selecting staff, training, and development opportunities.
  • Identify training needs and deliver training from both on-boarding and cross-training perspectives.
  • Ensure staffing models and team structures are accurate based on volume and productivity expectations.
  • Assist in streamlining and standardizing education creation and provision to QA Specialist teams, Tower teams, coding professionals, and frontline staff.
  • Collaborate with Physician Management, DRG Team Management, Inpatient Coder Management, Query Writing, Query Closure Coding, Escalation team, clients, and Accuity leadership to formalize trends into feedback and education.
  • Perform quality assurance leadership functions under the direction of the Vice President of DRG Integrity and in accordance with approved QA plans.
  • Direct management of quality programs, policies, practices, and resources.
  • Coordinate work assignments of system-wide QA staff and adjust as needed based on schedules, volumes, and access.
  • Manage QA team quality, monitor productivity levels, and turn-around times.
  • Assess current QA personnel productivity standards and develop strategic plans to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Oversee QA staff employee files, timecard approvals, and track performance information for successful feedback and annual performance evaluations.
  • Implement improvement measures to enhance overall quality and client satisfaction.
  • Design and develop QA curriculum, programs, learning materials, and collateral based on industry design standards.
  • Identify patterns, trends, and variations in coding and other data types and take appropriate steps in collaboration with departments to affect resolution or explanation.
  • Collaborate with team leadership to generate educational opportunities for coding compliance, accuracy, and variance in coding practices.
  • Ensure information systems support current and future department needs by working closely with the Technology team in transition planning.
  • Organize and analyze trend data to present as educational opportunities or drive process and outcome improvement initiatives.
  • Assign Learning Management System modules for the QA team and coordinate technology matters with IT LMS administrators.
  • Evaluate modes of training delivery to optimize effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Create ICQ goals and work with Human Resources to develop development/training plans for the team.
  • Analyze internal quality reviews, make recommendations for education, counseling, or termination, and direct provisions for staff development, training, and orientations.
  • Ensure compliance with external agencies, state, and federal regulations for ethical coding and compliant queries.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, or a related field.

  • Coding credential required from AHIMA/AAPC (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, and/or CPC or CIC).
  • CDIP or CCDS preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of recent experience in the Health Information Management (HIM) field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in inpatient coding auditing is required.
  • Experience in preparation and presentation of education related to audit findings is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Coding Compliance and Standards for Ethical Coding is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS and APR-DRG models, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer technology and preferred knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is preferred.
Salary

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
