Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Detention Officer to join our team at Dougherty County, GA. As a Detention Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our community by enforcing laws and regulations within the jail facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide complete security throughout the jail facility and perform duties in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Enforce local, state, and federal laws, as well as Dougherty County policies and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough searches of inmates, visitors, and staff to ensure compliance with security protocols.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents within the jail facility, utilizing de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and county departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Be a High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Be a Certified Jailer or eligible for Jailer Certification status in accordance with Georgia State Standards.
  • Pass a credibility assessment test and medical examination.
  • Provide Compass/Asset scores from a Technical College or University.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
  • Submit copies of required documents, including a birth certificate, social security card, high school diploma or equivalent, and valid Georgia driver's license.
