Under the guidance of the Clinical Training Supervisor, the RN Clinical Training Specialist is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, and coordination of the onboarding process for new clinical personnel within the Integrated Health Department.
This role also involves the design, development, implementation, and facilitation of ongoing training sessions across various clinical programs and partnerships (including law enforcement, first responders, and provider networks) to enhance the skill set and knowledge base in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Jackson-Hillsdale Community Mental Health Board.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver both in-person and virtual training programs for Jackson-Hillsdale and Provider Network staff, covering essential topics such as clinical skills, medication management, healthy lifestyle practices, and principles related to psychiatric nursing and co-occurring disorders.
- Assemble onboarding materials for new hires in the Integrated Health Department, which includes training logs, onboarding timelines, competency checklists, and other relevant documentation.
- Provide clinical consultation as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of services within the provider network and internally.
- Monitor and oversee the tracking of all training activities to support the network and staff; identify trends and create improvement plans or training initiatives based on findings from chart reviews.
- Collaborate closely with clinical supervisors and the Contracts Management Department to ensure clinical proficiency and quality service delivery.
- Actively participate in assigned committees, including but not limited to Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) workgroups and Quality Management committees.
- Obtain and maintain various trainer certifications (such as CPR/First Aid and BLS) by completing required training and ensuring compliance with certification standards.
- Prepare feedback and evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness of training programs. Regularly evaluate and report on the outcomes of training sessions, including overall effectiveness, success metrics, and return on investment. Maintain comprehensive records of trainee progress and achievements.
- Curate a database of training resources and a reference library containing training films, literature, and other educational materials.
- Develop and implement 90-day performance reviews for new employees within the Integrated Health Department.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of competencies through chart reviews, observations, and other methods to identify training needs within the organization and the Provider Network.
- Provide constructive feedback to supervisors regarding staff competencies and collaborate on the creation of performance improvement plans as necessary.
- Flexibility to work at multiple sites as required to meet training needs.
- Assist in preparations for both internal and external audits.
