Role Overview
As a Medical Lab Scientist, you will engage in a variety of routine and intricate technical procedures to conduct laboratory tests that aid in diagnosing and treating diseases. Your responsibilities will vary based on the specific laboratory and may include:
- Conducting a range of tests in clinical settings utilizing established methodologies and equipment.
- Handling specimens and executing both manual and automated testing processes.
- Operating and maintaining laboratory instruments in accordance with standard protocols.
- Calibrating equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Processing patient samples with meticulous attention to identification and procedural accuracy.
- Assisting in troubleshooting assay issues under the guidance of senior personnel.
- Communicating effectively regarding any problems or discrepancies encountered.
- Managing inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Contributing to the development of innovative laboratory tests and methodologies.
- Preparing for laboratory inspections and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
- Documenting quality control and assurance results to uphold laboratory integrity.
- Participating in safety training and adhering to all safety protocols.
- Engaging in continuous education and competency assessments.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to students and new staff members.
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science; or Medical Technology is required. Modifications to educational or experience requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Experience: No prior experience is required.
Certifications: Certification is preferred.
