Art Instructor

Schenectady City School District is seeking an experienced Art Instructor to join our team. This position involves teaching art classes to students in a dynamic and forward-thinking district.

Salary: $53,831 - $76,464 per year

This role requires a skilled educator who can inspire students to be creative and innovative through various forms of visual arts. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching art in different ways and contexts, as well as a strong understanding of growth mindset practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage students using culturally responsive practices with various forms of visual arts;
• Use growth mindset practices to cultivate student curiosity about the world;
• Teach students how to use art to communicate thoughts, feelings, and messages that initiate action;
• Robust working knowledge of how to teach art to all grade levels.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• NYS certification;
• Experience teaching art in a variety of ways and context;
