Job Summary

The Lead Medical Support Assistant plays a vital role in the Veterans Health Administration, providing clinical support to medical staff and ensuring the smooth operation of healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily work schedules and monitor workload among Medical Support Assistants
  • Provide input on performance regarding quality of work, accuracy, and timeliness of scheduling appointments
  • Ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures in scheduling directives, patient information collection management, and insurance captures
  • Assist Imaging Medical Support Assistants with questions regarding Scheduling Directives, Business Rules, and Local Procedures
  • Extract and analyze data to provide timely delivery of management reports and action required for all Program metrics
Requirements
  • 6 months experience of clerical, office, customer service, or other administrative work
  • Ability to utilize numerous advanced patient systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources
  • Ability to communicate with individuals to obtain the desired effect and coordinate with a variety of interdisciplinary care team staff
Working Conditions

The work schedule is subject to change with management discretion to accommodate the needs of the VA Mission.

Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program and the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
