Job Summary

The Lactation Consultant is a key member of the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center team, responsible for providing expert breastfeeding support to new mothers and their babies. This role requires a strong understanding of lactation practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of breastfeeding mothers and their babies to identify any issues or concerns.
  • Develop and implement personalized plans of care to support breastfeeding success.
  • Provide education and guidance to new mothers on proper breastfeeding techniques, latch, and positioning.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless care and support for breastfeeding mothers and their babies.
  • Participate in program development and implementation to improve lactation services and outcomes.
Requirements
  • RN licensure or related advanced education.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • NRP Certification within six months of employment.
  • Current hands-on experience supporting and educating breastfeeding women.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, manage, and develop lactation programs.
Work Environment

This is a safety-sensitive position that involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. The worker is subject to on-call status, contact with chemicals, heavy lifting, constant standing, and encounters with upset/disturbed individuals.
