Job Overview

The Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing and collaborating with Quality Technicians and Inspectors to establish, implement, and uphold quality standards and requirements within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead initiatives with Lean Principles and act as a catalyst for change.
  • Travel to suppliers and various internal facilities as necessary.
  • Conduct audits on incoming supplier components and develop internal quality verification programs.
  • Engage in daily quality activities, including hands-on part inspection, primarily on the manufacturing floor or inspection area.
  • Participate in daily management activities, focusing on leadership on the shop floor.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and Suppliers.
  • Set and maintain quality parameters for incoming components, certification procedures, and inspection protocols.
  • Address inquiries from Production Managers and technical support regarding component quality programs.
  • Contribute to the establishment of standards and procedures for component design and testing.
  • Advise engineers on component improvements or revisions.
  • Analyze quality logs and reports to identify process errors and potential enhancements.
  • Design and develop fixtures and gauging systems to inspect critical features of components and assemblies.
Supervisory Duties

Oversee and collaborate with Quality Technicians and Inspectors, ensuring effective direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, as well as resolving issues in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 3 years of management experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and analytical skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and developing preventative measures.
  • Familiarity with metrology methods and the ability to train technicians in these techniques.
  • Experience with Gage R&R methodologies and calculations.
  • Understanding of methods for obtaining dimensional data.
  • Preferred qualifications include ASQ certification, knowledge of GD&T, and experience with CMM programming (Zeiss Calypso, Renishaw Equator, PC-DMIS).
  • Strong leadership and presentation skills are necessary.
  • Familiarity with APQP & PPAP processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, as well as GageTrak and Minitab.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Advanced mathematical skills, including the ability to apply complex concepts and statistical analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
