Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Assistant to join our team at 29 Palms LLC. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining accurate payroll data, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding customer service to guests and all other employees by exceeding our mission statement.
  • Maintain accurate payroll data, including hours worked, employee compensation, payroll taxes, and/or payroll deductions within the time and attendance and HR/Payroll systems.
  • Assist with checking, entering, balancing payroll information, calculating earnings, deductions, and net pay.
  • Review wages computed and audit information to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles as well as applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Assist with direct compilation and preparation of other payroll data, such as hours worked, insurance costs, and 401k plan.
  • Record changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments, for each employee to update master payroll records.
  • Create and maintain employee records, ensuring that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis, and review changes for proper authorization.
  • Assist in preparing reports for accounting as well as specific departmental reports that may be requested.
  • Assist in preparing periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions for both employees and various government agencies.
  • Verify leave requests against company records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) as well as all Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS).
  • Present a positive image of the Tribal organization to its guests and vendors and to assist them as required.
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures and attend all scheduled safety meetings and training as a condition of employment.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
  • Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Associate Degree in Business Administration/Finance/Accounting or equivalent training preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in payroll.
  • Must pass periodic random drug screens.
  • Must be able to pass background suitability investigation.
  • Must obtain a Tribal Gaming License.
  • Must obtain all other applicable certifications and licenses.
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States within 72 hours of employment.
Work Environment

  • Multiple locations.
  • Some enterprises are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all hours.
  • Must be available for emergency calls 24/7.
  • Must be available to work weekend and holidays.
  • Some enterprises are gaming facilities.
  • Some enterprises are not a smoke-free environment.
  • Surveillance cameras and audio equipment monitor the premises recording activity throughout most of the facilities on 24 hours per day, 7 days per week basis.
