Physician and Medical Specialist

This Physician and Medical Specialist position is located at the Kern Valley State Prison in Delano, CA, and is part of the California Correctional Health Care Services. The selected candidate will provide high-quality medical care to patients in a correctional facility, working under the general direction of the Chief Physician & Surgeon, Correctional Facility (CF).
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals, and maintain confidentiality in a sensitive environment. The Physician and Medical Specialist will perform medical assessments, provide medical treatment, and consult with mid-level providers and other staff members.
Responsibilities- Provide medical care to patients in a correctional facility, including performing medical assessments, providing medical treatment, and consulting with mid-level providers and other staff members.
- Work under the general direction of the Chief Physician & Surgeon, Correctional Facility (CF), and ensure that medical care is provided in accordance with professional medical standards and protocols.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships within the department, other governmental agencies, healthcare partners, and communities.
- Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California, as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
- Possession of a valid internal medicine or family medicine Medical or Osteopathic Specialty Certificate issued by an American Medical Specialty Board or an American Osteopathic Board.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals, and maintain confidentiality in a sensitive environment.
