We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join our Transportation Department at the City of San Jose, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation engineering, with expertise in traffic signal design, geometric layout, and transportation infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage transportation engineering projects, including traffic signal design, geometric layout, and transportation infrastructure improvements.
- Develop and implement transportation plans and policies to improve the safety and efficiency of our transportation systems.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that transportation projects are aligned with the City's goals and objectives.
- Supervise and mentor engineering staff to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest transportation engineering technologies and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve our transportation systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering, including traffic signal design, geometric layout, and transportation infrastructure management.
- Valid State of California professional Certificate of Registration in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Valid State of California Driver's License.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with transportation planning and policy development.
- Experience with project management and team leadership.
