Role Summary

The Wound Care Nurse RN (Registered Nurse) plays a crucial role in providing specialized care for residents with wound-related needs. This position involves a range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring optimal healing and health outcomes for patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administers physician-prescribed wound care and treatment to all residents.
  • Maintains accurate documentation regarding wound characteristics, including size, depth, and treatment responses.
  • Effectively communicates with the healthcare team and participates in interdisciplinary meetings as necessary.
  • Administers medications to residents as required, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assists in the transfer of residents when needed, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Prepares and organizes the medication and treatment cart for efficient rounds.
  • Supports physicians during rounds, contributing to comprehensive patient care.
  • Completes assessment forms under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Monitors and tracks all wounds for Quality Assurance initiatives.
  • Notifies physicians regarding any significant changes in residents' conditions.
  • Conducts weekly audits of resident foot health.
  • Provides assistance to nursing staff on various units as requested.
  • Performs additional nursing duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Ensures the overall health, safety, and welfare of residents.
  • Completes all other tasks as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications:

  • A minimum of six months of nursing experience in a long-term care environment.
  • Current licensure as an LPN or RN in the State of Ohio is required.
