About the Role

G&W Electric is seeking a skilled Powder Coat Operator to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing process, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality coatings for our electrical power grid solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload parts or products onto fixtures, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Pre-Coating Preparation: Prepare parts for coating, ensuring they meet the required standards.
  • Coating Application: Apply powder coatings using our state-of-the-art equipment, following all principles and practices of powder coating application.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate all coating equipment, including guns, hoppers, and booth systems, to achieve optimal results.
  • Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections and use viscometers to determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality.
  • Baking and Finishing: Bake parts at the correct temperatures within time limitations, ensuring they meet our quality standards.
  • Efficiency and Safety: Ensure all components are produced and coated efficiently, meeting company-established goals for quality, and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Maintenance and Training: Perform daily maintenance on equipment, train others in powder coat operations tasks as needed, and contribute to team efforts.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent, with 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and 1-2 years of experience as a painter or powder coat operator.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to safely use small hand and power tools, read and interpret drawings and bills of material, basic computer skills, and effective communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Demands

The work is classified as Medium-Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the US Department of Labor's Dictionary of Occupational Titles.

  • Lifting Demands: Lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis, floor to waist, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. floor to chest.
  • Postural Demands: Standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling are continuous.
  • Miscellaneous Demands: Frequent to continuous gripping, manipulation, and fingering, and variable hand/power tool use.
