POSITION TITLE: Project Manager
LOCATION: Various States
POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Manager will lead teams on intricate improvement initiatives within the energy and utilities sector. Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, this role encompasses managing a diverse portfolio of projects, including overhead and underground transmission lines as well as gas-insulated substations. The Project Manager will oversee the scope, quality, performance, schedule, and budget of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to client protocols and industry standards from the conceptual phase through to design completion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Uphold a high standard of quality and responsiveness to client needs.
§ Oversee projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring compliance with approved cost, quality, and schedule parameters.
§ Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and designers.
§ Act as a technical design authority, managing the creation of design packages for power generation, transmission, and distribution projects. These packages include detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, proposal evaluations, technical reports, cost estimates, and other necessary documentation for construction.
§ Assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
§ Ensure all projects comply with safety standards in accordance with OSHA, state regulations, and industry best practices.
§ Perform additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
· 8+ years of relevant post-education experience in the planning, design, and construction of electric and/or gas transmission and distribution systems, including at least 2 years in project management or team leadership roles.
· Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
· Proficiency in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
o Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
o Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or GIS tools.
o Coordination of conflicting utilities and field engineering design requirements.
o Experience with complex projects in urban environments, including construction permit development and easement coordination.
· Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to conduct quality reviews of detailed engineering documents and specifications.
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
