Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team at NINOS INC. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Teacher in the Head Start classroom, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for our students.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Teacher with all regular classroom activities, including lesson planning, instruction, and assessment.
  • Support the Teacher with home visits, ensuring a smooth and effective communication with parents and guardians.
  • Perform related duties within the scope of Head Start, as assigned by the Head Teacher.
  • Assist the Teacher in maintaining a high level of student attendance and enrollment.
  • Support the Teacher in generating the assigned non-federal share (In-Kind).
  • Attend staff training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Support the efforts of Head Start families in promoting their children's healthy development and academic success.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor relative to program operations.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have no criminal record or pending charges.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with liability insurance.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Must have a clear TB and physical examination before the first day of employment.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or be enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within 2 years.
  • Must be skilled in data entry and computer skills, including Microsoft Windows environment and Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have a certificate of proficiency in child care development.
  • Be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree.
  • Have 6 months of experience in child care.
  • Be bilingual, able to speak, read, and write English and Spanish.
  • Be a local resident of Cameron or Willacy County.
  • Be a person sensitive to the needs of the poor and disadvantaged.

Working Conditions: This position requires working on weekends, holidays, and/or evenings on special assigned projects and/or tasks.
