Job Overview

Are you looking to advance your career in the logistics sector? Spherion Layton is on the lookout for skilled Order Selectors with Forklift Expertise who enjoy operating machinery such as stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers in our climate-controlled distribution facility. As an essential member of our team, you will be tasked with loading and unloading goods from incoming and outgoing shipments using a sit-down forklift, ensuring accurate scanning and placement of products within the warehouse.

Compensation: Starting pay at $20.00/hr, with pay increases upon permanent hire.

Shift Availability: - Swing Shift: Monday-Friday - 3 PM - 11:30 PM
- Grave Shift: Monday-Friday - 11 PM - 7:30 AM

Key Responsibilities

Your main duties will include:

  • Safely and efficiently loading and unloading freight using the appropriate equipment.
  • Transporting products to designated storage areas.
  • Organizing and stacking merchandise correctly.
  • Picking orders for dispatch and assembling various types of goods for shipment.
  • Checking freight for accuracy, damage, and infestation.
  • Assisting in maintaining warehouse security.
  • Conducting operations with a strong emphasis on safety.
  • Participating in physical inventory counts as required.
  • Performing tasks such as labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking.
  • Operating equipment, including but not limited to stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and radio frequency devices.
  • Reporting any safety issues with equipment.
  • Adhering to OSHA regulations.
  • Meeting production standards consistently.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Following attendance policies and being punctual for assigned shifts.
  • Charging or changing forklift batteries as necessary.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • The ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, or weekends when necessary.
  • A keen attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members.

Tools and Technology: Familiarity with warehouse management systems and equipment such as pallet jacks and lift trucks is required.

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this role, the associate will frequently need to sit, hear, or talk, use close vision, and manipulate controls. Occasionally, the associate may need to stand, kneel, or crouch, and lift items up to 80 lbs. (team lifting is required for items over 50 lbs).
