About the Role:

AmeriMed Infusion Pharmacy, a part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a highly skilled Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Compounding Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation of compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, measure and compound medication, maintain patient records, and perform duties deemed acceptable by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification. If not certified, obtain a state-approved certification to practice in the state within 12 months of the hire date.
  • Assist with the orientation and training of pharmacy personnel.
  • Work with insurance providers and medical providers to bill and follow up on necessary tasks.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Program or double-check IV pump settings for accuracy prior to delivery.
  • Complete yearly ACHC assessments of compounding standards successfully.
  • Under the supervision of the pharmacist, prepare prescriptions for filling, check compounding records, gather necessary pharmaceuticals, stage prescriptions and products for the pharmacist to check, and compound prescriptions under direct supervision.
  • Clean and calibrate compounding equipment per manufacturer's guidelines and policy and procedures, if applicable by location.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform sterile compounding per strict USP 797 guidelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of USP 797 guidelines.
  • Communicate with patients about supply and deliveries of medications.
  • Coordinate continuation or discontinuation of services, process refill prescriptions, and document in patients' records.
  • Utilize administrative and clinical knowledge to assist pharmacists in providing medication and other healthcare products to patients.
  • Assist in the preparation of I.V. medications and supplies for clients and maintain a clean and organized pharmacy.
  • Execute all processes in the production of CSPs, strictly adhering to USP 797 regulations and departmental Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • State pharmacy technician licensure in the state employed.
  • Obtain national certification within 12 months of employment.
  • Compounding pharmacy technician experience, preferably with six months of sterile IV compounding experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Self-directed with excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of medical technology.
  • Availability for full-time, regular daytime hours and ability to work on-call hours.
