Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Language Arts Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. As a 7th grade educator, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic growth and personal development in your students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, assignments, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Evaluate the learning progress of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Administer group standardized tests in accordance with the District testing program.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning students' academic, social, and behavioral progress.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Current New Mexico teaching certificate in specified field
  • Current endorsements dependent upon specific positions may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility, organization, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
  • Knowledge of APS community, computer system, financial procedures, and legal requirements.
