Job Overview

Position Title: Infrastructure Engineer Consultant Hadoop

Role Objective:

  • This role involves working closely with Solutions Engineering, Infrastructure Operations, and Infrastructure Service Management teams.
  • Responsible for the design and construction of infrastructure solutions and blueprints within the designated area.
  • Engaging in the creation of repeatable deployment patterns (build-kits) to enhance the deployment process for both non-production and production environments.
  • Facilitating the transfer of knowledge to Infrastructure Operations teams.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree coupled with 5 years of experience in Information Technology or a related field; alternatively, a Technical Certification and/or relevant college coursework with 7 years of IT experience; or 9 years of IT experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Hadoop distribution platforms such as Hortonworks, Cloudera, and others.
  • Willingness to provide on-call support for Hadoop as necessary.
  • Proficient in implementing and troubleshooting applications such as Hive, Pig, Storm, Kafka, Nifi, Elastic Search, Solr, and HBase.
  • Familiarity with Ruby or Python, along with experience in DevOps tools like Git and GitHub.
  • Experience in a scripting language for automating infrastructure deployment tasks.
  • Ability to simplify and standardize complex processes and concepts.
  • Understanding of business priorities, industry trends, and market dynamics.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and make informed trade-off decisions.
  • Drive for cross-functional execution and collaboration.
  • Adaptability and proficiency in managing change.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on collaboration.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Hadoop Application Infrastructure Engineering and Development Methodology.
  • Familiarity with Ambari, Hortonworks, and HDInsight.
  • Experience with Cloudera Technology on Azure or AWS platforms.
  • Knowledge of Streaming Technologies, particularly Kafka.
  • Understanding of security protocols such as Kerberos, TLS encryption, SAML, and LDAP.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based big data solutions on Azure or AWS, including EMR, HDInsight, Kinesis, and Event Hubs.
