About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Medtronic. As a key member of our New Product Design and Systems Engineering group, you will be responsible for leading new product design activities associated with products such as generators, amplifiers, large consoles, and catheters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead complex product design activities, including concept development and prototyping
  • Design and develop components to be manufactured via plastic injection molding, stamping, machining, extrusion, and related processes
  • Create and interpret analyses to determine suitability of design concepts
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff
  • Incorporate risk-based decision-making into the design process
  • Apply Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies to all aspects of the design/development process
  • Ensure on-time completion of Design Control deliverables
  • Grow and maintain knowledge current with related technologies
  • Work with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure feasibility of high-volume assembly
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree and minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical product development
  • Or, Master of Engineering degree and minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical product development
  • Experience in the medical device industry
  • Experience with CAD based tools (SolidWorks)
  • Experience in complex mechanical system design at architectural level
