We're seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our US Electric business unit. This position can be located in Waltham, MA, Brooklyn, NY, Hicksville, NY, or Syracuse, NY (candidates may also reside in either Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Maine). The Principal Engineer will take on a critical role of turning business needs into technology solutions specifically working within our US Electric organization. Key responsibilities include the following:
- Hands-on contributions with code development
- Gain visibility and recognition across the organization for technical competence and leadership.
- Lead the architectural design of complex systems.
- Write well-designed, testable, scalable, and efficient code.
- Provide contributions to the engineering organization.
- Provide leadership for the integration of software components into a fully functional software system.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders on the development of digital products.
- Work with other Staff Engineers and Engineering Management to define IT standards, procedures, and process.
- Provide support and mentorship to the engineering team and engineering org.
- Collaborate with teams on other products and business units on technology.
About You
We're looking for a candidate with 8+ years of experience in software development as a developer
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Hands on technical experience with Python,.Net Core, PostgreSQL, Azure, GitHub
Several years of technical contribution and leadership in a structured team environment
Ability to mentor other engineers.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Strong knowledge of the agile software development process
Practical experience in building and using RESTful APIs.
Solid communication and documentation skills

**Salary**
$142,000 - $185,000 per year based on location. Salary is commensurate with experience and location.
