Position Overview
The Biomedical Equipment Technician I (BMET I) is responsible for delivering clinical equipment services under the close guidance of TriMedx management. Key responsibilities include validating and inspecting clinical equipment for completeness, mechanical and electrical safety, and ensuring proper functionality. The technician will also conduct scheduled maintenance inspections, calibrations, and repairs of various biomedical devices. Additionally, the BMET I will assist fellow technicians in troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment. This role requires adherence to TriMedx's core values, demonstrating respect, creating value, initiating positive change, and maintaining integrity in all professional interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Services – 40%
Conduct performance assurance (PA) inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and operational verification procedures (OVP) on biomedical equipment. Repair, install, and calibrate biomedical devices. Communicate with supervisors regarding repair statuses, scheduled inspections, and any equipment concerns. Collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and external service technicians to ensure quality service delivery. Maintain technical expertise through continuous training and education. Participate in special projects related to service operations as assigned.Regulatory Compliance – 25%
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database, including inventory, performance assurance schedules, nomenclature, and service history. Comply with the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP) and all relevant regulatory requirements. Ensure all service documentation is complete, timely, and accurate.Account Relationship Management – 25%
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers. Discuss equipment status and functionality with clinical staff. Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organizations served. Represent TriMedx positively by integrating core values into daily performance.Inventory Management – 10%
Conduct regular inspections of inventory status. Verify the completion of security analyses for new customer equipment. Perform Incoming Inspections (II) to maintain an accurate inventory of medical devices, including trial, rental, and loaner equipment. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database. Provide recommendations regarding inventory management. Undertake additional duties as assigned.Skills and Qualifications
Proficient in complex computer skills, including interpreting error codes and performing hardware replacements. Ability to synthesize information from diverse sources. Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills.Education and Experience
Associate's degree in a technical or electronics field, military experience, or two years of equivalent experience. Preferred: 3 months of experience with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering setting.
