Job Summary

Chipton-Ross is seeking a skilled Designer 4 to join their team in Newport News, VA. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for creating innovative designs and modifying existing ones to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design components or portions of systems using computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as CAD, CAM, or CATIA.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups to ensure design criteria are met.
  • Develop concept designs using CAD tools (Inventor, NX) and create component manufacturing drawings.
  • Perform arrangement impact studies using Ship Product Model and update various databases as required.
  • Work closely with Engineers to evaluate designs for fit, form, and function, and conduct ship-checks to aid in design.
  • Monitor junior designers and work with deck-plate construction personnel to solicit and evaluate manufacturing design changes.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree or other 2-year technical degree in a related discipline and 6 years of related experience.
  • Critical skills in Inventor, Teamcenter, NX experience, and manufacturing drawing development.
  • Required PPE: Ear Muffs, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Boots.
Education

Associates Degree is required. Equivalency: Associate's Degree and 3 years of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associate's degree.

Work Schedule

5/40 workweek. 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Less than 10% travel required.
