Key Responsibilities:
Pharmacy Technician Duties:
- Adhere to all federal, state, DFCI, and Joint Commission policies and standards as a pharmacy technician.
- Accurately fill medication orders in accordance with established protocols, ensuring timely delivery of medications and supplies.
- Utilize various systems, including Electronic Health Records and Inventory Management Systems, to complete and document tasks effectively.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory through sorting, stocking, and checking expiration dates.
- Perform and document quality control measures to meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Clean sterile and non-sterile areas of the pharmacy as assigned and assist in training new employees.
- Communicate and escalate issues as necessary, and may be assigned to support other locations or areas.
Infusion Technician Duties:
- Conduct sterile and non-sterile compounding of primarily hazardous medications in compliance with relevant standards and protocols.
- Ensure adherence to medication requirements within assigned research protocols.
- Support Automated Dispensing cabinets and manage controlled substances as certified.
- Assist in stocking emergency medications as required.
- Set up and document pharmacy batch compounding processes.
Site-Specific Duties May Include:
- Provide support for Automated Dispensing System downtimes.
- Perform essential inventory functions such as ordering and receiving.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or enrollment in an accredited entry-level Pharmacy degree program or related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years as a pharmacy technician, including at least 1 year of compounding experience.
Licensure/Certification:
Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required. National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) must be obtained within one year of hire.
Required Skills:
Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately, utilize pharmacy technology systems, and develop proficiency in aseptic techniques and compounding. Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail are essential. Must demonstrate professionalism and respect in all interactions.
