Role Summary and Qualifications

The Senior Financial Executive oversees financial and departmental operations in alignment with established hospital policies and objectives. Key responsibilities include managing all financial departments, resource allocation, and annual budget preparation. Typical departmental oversight includes Accounting, Reimbursement, Managed Care, Health Information, and Utilization Review. This role operates at an executive level, providing active leadership and accountability to the Hospital CEO while fostering relationships with the Division CFO, Hospital CEO, COO, and CNO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead initiatives to analyze and identify opportunities for reducing operational costs and enhancing revenue based on market trends and financial data.
  • Oversee the preparation of internal financial reports, ensuring accuracy and reliability in reflecting the hospital's financial status.
  • Ensure timely submission of all financial data and reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Identify and communicate undesirable trends and potential business opportunities, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Assist the CEO in formulating long-term and short-term operational plans, including service demand and resource availability analyses.
  • Develop operational and capital budgets aligned with the hospital's strategic objectives.
  • Direct the preparation of statistical reports, budgets, and financial statements.
  • Administer general accounting and patient business services, ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Provide guidance in data processing and material management, monitoring performance to meet fiscal responsibilities.
  • Forecast the financial impact of business decisions and expected outcomes.
  • Monitor economic indicators to identify trends affecting business operations and planning.
  • Communicate financial performance to stakeholders, including senior administration and facility staff.
  • Review denial trends to maximize net reimbursement.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the charge master.
  • Evaluate contracts and financial agreements for alignment with business goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in a Hospital Controller, Assistant CFO, or VP of Finance role is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation is preferred.
