Position SummaryThe Clinical Nurse embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, adheres to the organization's ethical standards, and complies with all relevant policies and regulations.
The Clinical Nurse is a skilled, registered professional who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for patients with acute conditions through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. This role requires effective interaction with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members while upholding the standards of professional nursing practice.
Work Requirements:
- Availability to work forty (40) hours every four (4) weeks, including one (1) Monday or one (1) Friday within that period.
- Willingness to work one (1) Outpatient Saturday every four (4) months in addition to the forty-hour requirement.
- Gather and analyze patient data, establish expected outcomes, create and implement individualized care plans, coordinate care delivery, and assess progress toward achieving outcomes.
- Guide care delivery and determine the appropriate use of assistants involved in providing direct patient care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff to develop a documented care plan focused on outcomes and effective communication.
- Engage in shared governance, committee participation, and unit initiatives.
- Assess and document patient responses to nursing interventions in health records, adjusting care plans based on evaluations.
- Utilize the best available evidence, including research findings, to inform practice decisions.
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Analytical abilities
- *An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is acceptable with a commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of employment in a clinical nursing role.
Additional Requirements for Specialized Areas:
- Emergency Room: ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC certifications within one year of hire.
- Pediatric Emergency Room: Pediatric Advanced Life Support and TNCC certifications within one year of hire.
- Non-Invasive Cardiology: ACLS preferred, along with experience in the specific clinical area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in specific clinical areas.
- Emergency Room and Pediatric Emergency Room: Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS), Emergency Communications Registered Nurse, Certified Pediatric Nurse, Certified Emergency Nurse certifications are preferred.
