Key Responsibilities- Assess patients quickly for opiate abuse and alcohol intoxication before dispensing medication.
- Dispense medication according to state and federal regulations and CARF standards, and obtain verbal orders when needed.
- Print daily/monthly dispensing reports and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain drug inventory, order clinical supplies, and ensure equipment is in working order.
- Communicate patient information to program directors, counselors, and medical contract staff as needed.
- Obtain urine specimens, prepare specimens for lab testing, and record results in patient charts.
- Take vital signs for new patients and annuals, and place PPD tests and give CXR referrals as ordered.
- Document patients' medication and routes to doctors for approval.
- Set up and enroll temporary transfers and discharges temporary transfers according to clinic procedures.
- Maintain logs of new patients and annuals.
- Minimum qualifications: Licensed RN, LVN, or Psych. Tech.
- CPR and first aid certification.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn technology.
- Oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and medical professionals.
- Crisis intervention skills and ability to perform in crisis situations.
- Ability to exercise appropriate judgment and decision making.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in any given situation.
- Ability to work effectively under stress and conflict.
- Ability to work as a member of a treatment team.
- Ability to take direction and work under general supervision.
- Ability to work effectively and responsibly in an outpatient setting.
- Oral and written fluency in English language.
- Valid California driver's license.
- Automobile insurance.
- TB clearance (at initial hire and annually thereafter).
