Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health - 1945 State Route 33. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment for our surgical teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instrument Management: Clean and handle instruments following established policies and procedures, maintaining accurate records and ensuring the proper organization and storage of equipment.
  • Counting and Labeling: Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments, and label medications according to established policy.
  • Specimen Handling: Handle specimens according to our operating room policies and procedures.
  • Decontamination and Sanitation: Control contamination and provide for decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation of instruments and equipment.
  • Equipment Removal and Disposal: Remove used equipment and properly dispose of contaminated needles and syringes at the end of procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in team conferences to plan care, evaluate effectiveness, and assist the circulator in revising the plan of care.
  • Skills Proficiency: Maintain up-to-date skills proficiency checklists by checking off equipment and cases, circulating or scrubbing when rotated through specialty areas.
  • Physical Demands: Lift a minimum of 50 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 400 lbs., and stand for a minimum length of shift.
  • Patient-Centered Care: Identify patient needs and modify and deliver care that is specific to those needs, communicating effectively with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers.
  • Organizational Competencies: Adhere to the standards identified in our Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
