N C Machinery & NC The CAT Rental Store is seeking a skilled Shop Technician to join our team in Thurston county. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team in one of our newest locations, providing full product support and rental services to our customers.

Harnish Group Inc. is the Caterpillar Dealer in Central and Western Washington, Central and Eastern Montana, Northwestern Wyoming, Northwestern North Dakota, and the state of Alaska. Our Member Companies are N C Machinery, N C The Cat Rental Store, N C Power Systems, Tractor & Equipment Co., T & E The CAT Rental Store, and SITECH, representing Caterpillar, and other manufacturers.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair CAT equipment, including removal, repair, assembly, and installation.
  • Troubleshoot engines, powertrains, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Plan and organize skills with a focus on controlling job costs.
  • Investigate, analyze, and identify problems to recommend solutions.

Qualifications & Experience Needed:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate of a 2-4 year vocational technical school training institution, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with CAT diagnostic equipment, CAT repair tooling, rigging, and blocking equipment is essential.
  • A valid driver's license is required for forklift driving and operation of equipment.
  • This role requires standing for up to eight hours per day and includes twisting, bending, squatting, sitting, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Flexibility to travel for extended periods to work with customers is required.
