Job Title: Phlebotomist

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Actalent. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, clearly explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections, and demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department trainings
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries

Requirements:

  • Blood draws
  • Labeling specimens
  • Centrifuging specimens
  • Recording maintenance data
  • Decontamination
  • Updating patient information
  • Using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
  • Understanding physicians' orders
  • Matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
  • Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens
  • Checking test requisitions
  • Packaging specimens for transport
  • Understanding OSHA and DEP regulations

Work Environment:

The candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of specimens. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, and centrifuging specimens. Oncology experience is a plus, and difficult sticks experience is needed. The candidate should try not to stick patients more than 2 times.
