Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified School Bus Driver to join our team at South Washington County Schools, ISD 833. As a School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, as well as school-related activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect the school bus before operation to ensure it is safe and ready for use.
  • Follow designated routes, times, and bus stops to ensure timely and safe transportation of students.
  • Transports authorized passengers, including students and staff, to and from school and school-related activities.
  • Obey Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations, including those related to student safety and transportation.
  • Complete written reports as required, including incident reports and maintenance records.
  • Maintain a clean and fueled school bus, and report any mechanical problems to the Transportation Shop.
  • Operate the two-way radio to communicate with dispatch and other drivers.
  • Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on the bus, and maintain discipline among students.
  • Conduct a post-trip inspection after each route to ensure the bus is safe and ready for the next use.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid School Bus License or willingness to obtain one.
  • Positive interpersonal communication and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to interact with all ages of children.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • First aid and CPR training.
  • Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous School Bus Driving Experience.
  • Defensive Driving classes.
