Aquatic Safety Officer

The Aquatic Safety Officer is tasked with overseeing the swimming facility and surrounding areas to ensure the well-being of all swimmers and visitors. Complimentary Lifeguard Training and Uniform provided.
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
Returning Lifeguards receive $17.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the safety of all individuals in and around the swimming area.
- Effectively identify and respond to emergencies.
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training sessions.
- Educate swimmers and visitors about facility rules and enforce them as necessary.
- Address inquiries and offer assistance and information as required.
- Provide first aid to patrons in need.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks around the facility, including litter collection, restroom sanitation, and organizing poolside furniture.
- Support pool operations and upkeep, including cleaning, vacuuming, and removing debris.
- Report any hazardous conditions to the Manager on Duty.
- May serve as a park, pool, or concession attendant in urgent situations.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as directed by the Pool Manager or Water Safety Officer.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum age of 15 years.
- Successfully complete an Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program (ILTP) course.
- Physical capability to perform all necessary tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in physically demanding positions.
- Ability to:
- Swim 100 yards continuously
- Retrieve a 10-pound object from the deepest part of the pool
- Maintain ILTP certification and Community First Aid through mandatory monthly training sessions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of lifeguarding rescue techniques.
- Effective and courteous communication skills with the public.
- Ability to understand and adhere to the operational guidelines of NOVA Parks.
- Willingness to work additional hours during peak seasons.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including early and late shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately.
- Required to wear the standard lifeguard uniform.
