Job Summary and QualificationsThe Stroke/Brain unit provides comprehensive, advanced care and treatment aimed at minimizing the impact of strokes, assisting patients in regaining their health and functionality, and enabling them to return to their daily lives. Designated by The Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and recognized by the State of Missouri as a Level 1 Time Critical Diagnosis Center of Excellence, Research Medical Center's Stroke Center treats over 1,200 stroke patients annually from the Kansas City area and beyond.

Enhanced coordination of care and discharge planning with support from neurology, therapies (PT/OT/ST), case management, rehabilitation, and nursing.
16-Bed Unit dedicated to Comprehensive Stroke Patients.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate patient conditions upon admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in status.
Execute procedures or other functions as directed by the medical provider.
Document care administration in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses.
Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment utilized in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.
Qualifications:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Registered Nurse license.
Registered Nurse Diploma.
