Westchester Medical Center is in search of a dedicated and skilled Critical Care Anesthesiologist to enhance the Department of Anesthesiology. Recognizing the vital role Anesthesiologists play in our diverse patient demographic, we are expanding our team to further our commitment to delivering exceptional care in the Hudson Valley. This role involves working in critical care settings while also providing general anesthesia, thereby integrating two essential care models.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Strong team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic and challenging healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer anesthetic care during critical medical situations.
  • Coordinate treatment and collaborate with other specialists to ensure comprehensive care in our Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
  • Lead daily interdisciplinary rounds with the ICU and surgical teams.
  • Oversee the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  • Engage in research initiatives to advance the fields of anesthesiology and surgical critical care.
  • Provide continuous 24/7 coverage for complex, critically ill patients, including those undergoing surgery.
  • Work closely with trauma surgeons and surgical intensivists to deliver integrated critical care services.
  • Contribute to the development of educational programs for surgical and anesthesiology residents and fellows.
  • Facilitate fellowship education and training in ultrasound techniques.
  • Participate in flexible rotations within the cardiothoracic ICU.
  • Engage in a flexible on-call schedule that allows for post-call days off, promoting work-life balance.
  • Option to work nocturnist shifts to ensure comprehensive oversight and teaching for critically ill patients.
  • Instruct residents, fellows, and medical students in surgical and anesthesiology practices.

Additional Information:

The Intensive Care Units (ICUs) served include:

  • Cardiac Surgical ICU: Care for patients recovering from complex cardiac procedures.
  • General Surgical ICU: Management of patients with severe trauma or those recovering from significant surgeries.
  • Trauma ICU: Specialized care for patients with intricate neurotrauma requiring intensive monitoring.
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and provide recommendations.
  • Discuss resuscitation and life-support options with patients and their families.
  • Offer compassionate support during critical decision-making processes regarding patient care.
