As a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective maintenance of airport service vehicles. Your responsibilities will include inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing various components of vehicles, including gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical parts.
- Location: Los Angeles International Airport
- Hourly Rate: $32.00
- Required: Class A Driver's License
- Required: Must possess mechanical tools and toolbox
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify defective or damaged components on vehicles and perform necessary repairs on gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Hydrate electric equipment as per the Hydration Schedule.
- Repair all non-motorized equipment.
- Program and understand the functionalities of the Rapid Charger, including the Battery Monitor and Identification Device (BMID).
- Replace and repair tires and wheels.
- Perform routine quality control checks on equipment monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Operate service equipment vehicles safely.
- Conduct accident inspections on involved equipment.
- Report all incidents to Shop Supervisors and Managers.
- Respond to radioed repair requests on the ramp.
- Support the aircraft services team by providing timely repairs and preventative maintenance to equipment.
- Safely operate all vehicles and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and perform Daily Equipment Checks (DEC's).
- Ensure a safe and secure work environment in compliance with local health, safety, and security regulations.
- 3 to 5 years of mechanical experience.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid US Class A driver's license is required.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background checks, physical tests, and drug screenings.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to lift and move up to 70lbs comfortably.
- Flexible availability for variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to perform duties of other positions as needed based on operational requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary Airport Badges.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The work environment may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high voltages, and hydraulic/pneumatic pressures. Employees may encounter loud noise levels, fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous materials.
Physical Requirements
Employees must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle tools, reach with arms, climb, and communicate effectively. Frequent lifting and moving of up to 25lbs and occasional lifting of up to 70lbs are required.
