Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Adjunct Professor of Philosophy to teach part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction in Philosophy courses, create a syllabus and Course Outline, and provide academic support and guidance to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching: Delivering high-quality instruction in Philosophy courses, including preparing and delivering lectures, leading discussions, and designing and grading assignments and exams.
  • Curriculum: Creating a syllabus and Course Outline that follows the Course on Record, meeting curriculum standards and academic goals.
  • Student Engagement: Providing academic support and guidance to students, including holding office hours to answer questions, discuss philosophical concepts, and offer feedback on their work.
  • Administrative Duties: Completing necessary administrative tasks, such as maintaining accurate records of grades and attendance, submitting required paperwork in a timely manner, and following college policies.
  • Professional Development: Staying current with developments in the field of Philosophy, which may involve attending workshops, conferences, etc.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Philosophy or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests.
  • Personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Philosophy or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience in teaching Philosophy courses.
