Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Overview:
This role is dedicated to enhancing the quality of materials, products, and services sourced from suppliers and subcontractors in the development and manufacturing sectors.

Key Responsibilities:


- Evaluate supplier performance and formulate improvement strategies to reduce defect rates and nonconformance incidents.

- Employ Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to enhance supplier quality and delivery metrics.

- Conduct training sessions on fundamental quality practices to foster supplier collaboration.

- Assist in evaluating potential new suppliers for quality assurance.

- Implement Supplier Partnership initiatives focusing on key suppliers.

- Analyze and report on quality issues related to various systems including assembly, mechanical, and electro-mechanical.

- Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions to address product and process shortcomings, ensuring effective implementation with suppliers.

- Engage in Advanced Product Quality Planning activities, including Process Flow Diagrams, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, Control Plans, and First Article Inspections.

- Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Predictive Quality techniques to enhance problem-solving efforts.

- Drive the implementation of Zero Defect Plans (ZDP) with critical suppliers, serving as the primary technical liaison to assist in developing robust processes and recommending improvements in manufacturability.


Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with operations when nonconforming materials are identified, taking necessary corrective actions with suppliers.

- Proactively engage with suppliers using tools such as Advanced Product Quality Planning and Zero Defect Planning to minimize risks to the organization and its customers.

Qualifications:
- Practical experience in managing processes and projects within a team environment.

- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a graduate degree with up to 2 years of experience.

- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.

- Knowledge of electronics assemblies, AMLCDs, PWBs, and related components.

- Proficient in conducting Root Cause Analysis using standard tools.

- Ability to perform trend analysis and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills:
- Willingness to travel as needed.

- Experience working collaboratively in a team setting.

- Familiarity with Predictive Quality and problem-solving methodologies.

- Knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 standards and auditing processes.

- Experience in Supplier Development and Engagement.

- Ability to present findings to senior management.

- Background in Lean Concepts and Commodity Management.

- Special process audit experience and ZDP Project Management skills.
